Jane Holiday

Overview

Jane grew up in rural New Hampshire and brings a combination of environmental education and hands-on field experience to the Sea Grant Crab Team. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire, where she discovered her passion for community science during an internship at a small science center in the Gulf of Maine. While there, she assisted in European green crab surveys and witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts these invasive crabs can have on coastal ecosystems.

That experience continues to inspire her work with the Sea Grant Crab Team today, where she is motivated to apply what she learned in the Gulf of Maine to protect the Puget Sound. Over the past three years, Jane has expanded her experience in marine conservation and public engagement throughout the Pacific Northwest, working and volunteering in roles centered around environmental education and stewardship. She recently completed her WA State Naturalist Certification through Washington State University and will begin her Master’s in Marine and Environmental Affairs at the University of Washington this fall. Jane is eager to contribute her experience to Sea Grant’s Crab Team and help strengthen early detection and prevention efforts for invasive species in the Salish Sea.
